My visit to London!

This week my boyfriend went down to London for a design award event (D&AD), and seeing as I had no university and the majority of my friends were all busy I thought I would join him. In fact, I booked my megabits tickets down the night before, definitely an impromptu decision to go!

Whilst I was in London I did spend some time at the design show with my boyfriend and some of his course mates, but I also had to go off and kill some time myself. On the Wednesday I got on the subway and went to the Natural History museum. The Natural History museum is definitely one of my favourite places in London and generally one of my all time favourite Museums! I've been to the New York one too, and I've got to say the London one is just as amazing!

My favourite exhibition is definitely the dinosaurs, I just love anything related to dinosaurs and I could literally spend hours just walking round taking it all in. This time as well I also really enjoyed the Ecology exhibition! Being a Science teacher I just loved all the science and how much all the exhibits related to topics I have recently taught to my pupils. The water cycle display was amazing and explained the whole process extremely well, likewise so did the display for the carbon cycle, food webs etc. I would love to take my pupils on a day out to the Natural History museum one day! I may have to suggest it at my new job!

Whilst in London I also met up with one of my university friends, who I hadn't seen since New Year. She is currently doing a PGCE herself in London so she came to meet me after teaching at her Primary School. We walked around some shops and then spotted a Nandos so we went for some food there (we used to go Nandos a lot in Leeds!). It was really great seeing her and catching up with her, as we're both so busy lately with our university courses and teaching, so it was great to spend some time together.

On the Thursday I managed to persuade Mark to come to a museum with me for a bit before I had to catch my bus home, and so again we went to the Natural History Museum haha, just because Mark wanted to go and he loves it just as much as I do. Last time we went together we didnt get chance to look round the Earth and Space section so we had a walk round those exhibitions. Afterwards we managed to find a lovely little Italian round the corner from the Natural History Museum and we stuffed our faces with gorgeous pizzas! Being in the restaurant was like actually being in Italy too, as all the staff were Italian, and the majority of the people sat around us were also Italian! Stepping out of the restaurant reminded us that we were in London not Italy. The restaurant was called Pierino and I would definitely recommend that people go! The food was amazing!

After the food I had to then say goodbye and run to catch my super long bus journey D:

The megabus journey down wasn't so bad, I mean it was a 6 hour journey but it didnt feel too long because I kept having little cat naps. However the journey back was atrocious! It felt so long and plus the bus/ the people sat near me were all weirdos! haha. I actually checked I still had my belongings after I got off the bus haha. Plus every time the bus stopped the smokers on the bus thought it was there time for a fag break so would get off an waste another ten minutes, the bus in the end was over 1 hour late. Definitely put me off megabits for a long time!

I do love going to London, and I do wish it was cheaper to go visit our Capital. But I've got to say it isn't my favourite city in England... Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool are all fantastic cities and if you are ever visiting the UK make sure you check out those amazing cities too!

Our amazing pizzas!

Exhibition for the Water Cycle! It was like a giant disco room with videos displayed in each square.

This part was all about how each species is adapted to their own habitat and environment, the images shown on the large flat stones changed every couple of seconds to show different habitats.

Sadly I didn't get as many photos as I would have liked, one because I forgot my camera so these were all taken on my phone, and then also because my phones battery dies so quickly!

May Wishlist!

may wishlist

one / two / three / four / five / six / seven / eight / nine / ten / eleven

I haven't been posting lately due to being so busy all the time! A PGCE will do that to you... But I thought I would take advantage of the bank holiday to do a quick blog post.

I love this "I feel the need for tea" mug, I love the design and definitely suits me down to the tea... (nice pun there...haha). This Olaf mug from the disney store is so cute too! Would be great to add to the rest of my disney mug collection.

The two dresses on my wish list this month are unsurprisingly blue, as I love the colour blue, and it is definitely one of my favourite colours to wear and it's so lovely in Summer. I am also graduating again in July and need a new dress to wear. Hopefully, weather permitting, I will be able to wear a lovely summer dress like the one from House of Fraser. I may also need to check my graduation colours too though. The top on my wish list is also very appropriate, seeing as my favourite thing to eat is pizza...

I am also due some new trainers for summer, and Nike trainers are by far the most comfy trainers I have ever owned. I don't usually go for anything lilac or pink, especially not when it comes to trainers but I have to admit that I love these Nike trainers. They would look lovely with jeans or demin shorts in the summer months.

I've noticed that this flat shoes from Oasis featured on my easter wish list and now again on my May wish list, definitely think I need to have a trip to Oasis!

With the weather (hopefully) getting sunnier it would be a good idea to invest in some sun care for my skin. This dream screen from benefit may be a bit more expensive but I'm sure it is a great product and worth splashing out on. I also got a sample of high beam in a benefit set for christmas and definitely need to invest in a bigger bottle soon!

A few people I know have also been raving about this Nars foundation and I was thinking I should probably see what all the fuss is about.

Happy Holidays!

I thought I would do a quick post about my holiday to Menorca. As I got treated to a free holiday thanks to my boyfriend's lovely mother! We went away for a week, flying from Blackpool, which was a long enough time to go away for to Menorca.

Ultimately the holiday was a beach/pool holiday to just relax and chill, especially relaxing seeing as I have recently finished my degree; so a week of relaxing and not doing much after many deadlines and exams was definitely needed.

We stopped in S'Algar in Menorca, which was about a 20 minute bus journey from the capital Mahon, and where the airport was. The flight was only 2hr 30 minutes which is a bonus, and thankfully we had really good flight times. We got 7 nights and 7 days in total in Menorca, and it was just the right amount of time to go away for.

The apartments were really lovely, really nice and spacious and also clean. Our apartment was on the second floor (the apartments were either first or second floors), so we had a lovely view of the town and sea from our apartment. Most days the weather was lovely and hot, but not overbearingly hot thankfully. I think the warm weather we had been having in the UK had slightly prepared us for the heat. A couple of days were more overcast/cloudy but it was still very warm and we had not rain, woo!

Most days we just walked around taking in our surroundings and the town, a couple of days we stayed by the pool and a couple of days we went into the Capital Mahon. Although we had a really lovely time, there was not really too much to do, hence why 7 days was long enough. We walked to the neighbouring towns a couple of times, but with the heat and also the fact that there was not much in those towns either, it was not worthwhile walking to them too much.

The city of Mahon was truly lovely, and a definite must if you are going to Menorca. It was refreshing to have a change of scenery and also to have the options of different shops and bars. We mainly walked around all the shops and streets, and also round the harbour. We went on a glass bottom boat, but that day the weather was really windy, leaving us both feeling motion sickness! I suffer quite badly from motion sickness and don't advise anybody to get on a boat when the weather is windy! On the Saturday we sat in a cafe next to the main church in the city, there was a wedding on so it was lovely to watch all the dressed up people going into the church. The wedding party also hired a DJ who was fortunately playing all the kind of music my boyfriend and I love. Sitting by the church, drinking a small beer and listening to the music was definitely one of my highlights of the holiday.

I didn't really spend much on our holiday as I always tend to go for the cheaper food options (habit of being a poor student!), and also recently bought lots of clothes that I didn't need to buy anything. The only thing I bought was a bookmark from a local art gallery! And my boyfriend treated me to a new cute make up bag from one of the shops in the capital.

Overall I had a really lovely time and it was so nice to just get away with my boyfriend and experience our first real holiday together. We have been to London together, but this was our first holiday abroad. Ive come back slightly browner, and way more freckly, and unfortunately with a few bites from the mosquitos. I got bitten 3/4 times and my boyfriend didn't get bitten once! Typical. I think in future we will stick to more city breaks :)
